The Process of Therapy

Sometimes, as we begin to work on issues, you feel more unsettled than before. This is normal. You may not leave every session feeling “better”. You may leave feeling thoughtful, after your heart, mind and memories have been stirred. It is important to be gentle and patient with yourself. If you have questions about our process and what you are experiencing, please feel free to bring this up for discussion.

There will be a couple of forms to complete – consent form and a brief history form. You will receive copies of both the consent form and my disclosure statement.

Some issues may be dealt with relatively quickly and this would be considered brief therapy. Sometimes during the resolution of certain issues you may discover deeper or different topics that come up. At this point, we would discuss how you would like to proceed and perhaps continue our work. Most of my clients feel free to contact me during the following months or years. These can be seen as “tune ups” to deal briefly with changed circumstances.
